It's warm out there, and bright as hell. My small striped cat sits and stares up at me with love in his eyes. At least, I think it's love when I first look down and see him, but no, this is the look that says he wants me to bring the big bag of cat food down from its place on the top shelf (where he can't jump up and get at it) and fill up his big blue bowl by the stove. It's the look of a cat who wants lunch. Now. The bag, of course, is gone. We ran out of cat food last night.
So I rip the top off a small box of cat treats some fat sales rep at Ralph's gave me last week with the dumb name - the food, not her - and pour it out on top of the few chunks of real food left in his bowl. He mews and purrs and shoves my arm out of the way to get at his snack. I stare down and watch his head bob up and down as he grabs for each treat. Could I scarf that crap down if I had to? It might come to that one of these days.
The loud ring of the phone makes me jump. It's the clown the jerk who owns this dump hired to pick up his rents each month, and I tell him I'll have the cash in a week or so. He calls me a schmuck, says he'll toss me out on my ass one of these days, screams some more and hangs up. It's an old game we play: I don't pay on time and he yells at me. I'll pay at some point and at some point he'll stop with the threats for a few days. It's been the same thing for years now. Oh, once in a while, he'll call me a putz, but most of the time, it's just schmuck.
I don't know for sure how I'll pay rent this month. I lost my crap job last week and I don't feel up to a new one just yet. Who wants to slave for eight bucks an hour for some rich slob just so I can live here and share this hole with a bunch of black bugs and my dumb cat? I'd live on the streets with the old guys who pick up cans to earn beer change, but I have this strange need to live in a place with a roof on it so I won't have to hear my mom's shrill voice in the back of my head with more of her damned rules for life.
If I could dress the cat up and get him to dance on the streets while I grind out tunes on an old squeeze box that would be just fine with me. It would bring in some cash, plus he has to do all the hard stuff. Oh well. I let that thought go and hunt for some shoes to throw on so I can walk down to the food mart next to the used car lot.
Once there, I'll get a few cans of wet cat food and buy one of those dumb scratch cards, too. Last week, I got ten bucks back on a one buck bet. What the hell? Then I can come back here, sit in front of the tube with the news on, and muse on the sad state of the world. If worse comes to worse, the cat and I can share one of the cans I just bought. That's not such a bad plan for such a nice day.

答案:
The entire story used only one-syllable words
I love to eat, and I am sure you can tell it straight from my size that food gives me joy. I love to eat with friends as it can help me to know them more. Bonds are built as you eat your meals and hear them share of their life. One tends to chat more as they eat and drink. So if you want to know a friend, ask them out for a meal, I am sure you can see more things than you have seen now.
